Balancing ITB's

  172 cup, Impreza P1
What is involved in balancing ITB's and how do you do it?

Is there any specialist tooling or equipment required?

Cheers for any info! :)

You need a syncrometer, and from memory to blance them out to about 6-7 kg/h flow but i would get a specialist to confirm that amount.

as above, but it's normally somewhere between 5 and 7 kg/h, and you need to be watching what the ecu is doing with idle control at the same time to make sure the ignition timing at idle sits somewhere sensible normally between 0 and 10 degrees. Engines vary though, and so do peoples opinions on what's the right setting. too retarded at idle and you'll overheat in traffic

Thanks Guys!

Guess this is very specialist or could you buy the equipment (for not too much cash) and use an RS Tuner to monitor the ecu?

Is that a no no then Danny?

Omex it is then. What I was considdering was to balance them myself then get someone to map it but is it just as easy to get the mapper to do it all?

Also, is it worth getting cams fitted at the same time so that they are only mapping the car once?

if you're getting cams, then get them and do it all once.

Any mapper worth using will check and adjust the balancing before putting the car on the dyno even
