Offside on my car is such a b*****d, always goes wrong!!

Got to this stage, and the bolt won't shift (either way!)

Can you get a spanner or anything on the otherside? Normally you can get these out like fred said using a hammer and a punch!

Try levering the joint downwards to help release pressure as the arm will be forcing the joint up to the hub.

Undo the bottom two nuts/bolts on the wishbone so that theres nothing pushing it up, or jack up the other side of the car and there should be less pressure on it

you have all the luck! first your brakes now this! i have a bit of spare time that i kept aside let me know if you want a hand mate.

  AGH the sl*g
basically the bolt goes through a u shapped piece of metal the tighter the bolt the smaller the middle holding the ball joint pin so i get a thick ended chisel and whack it in the slot to open the bracket up therefore releaving the tension on the bolt then you can just simply whack it out and also makes it far easier to drop the balljoint off too.

Give it a good soak over night in WD40 or the like. Then lump hammer/punch. It will go. You should have just handed the keys to Fred tbh ;)

He just needs to remind her who wears the trousers?

but then again, judging by efforts of this thread....................................

;)

worst comes to the worst, take the hub off with the balljoint and attack it in a bench vice (assuming you've not oxy gear)

just spotted 'centre punch' - use a parallel punch; centre punch might even have made it worse if its spread the thread

get Fred round:star:

i'm going on now, but post#16 as well - open the hub up a little with a masonary chisel/etc - could be that it's been done up so tight that the bolt/passageway are slightly bent. it'll help anyway. fin
