ballast or random lump of metal?

sits below upper engine mount behind headlave light, anyone know what it is or does? i rang renault and gave them the part number but they said its a dead number (not made anymore)

does it come on just 182's?

the mac tool man reckons its for helping the suspension work better somehow, but thats prob why he sells tools!

I was told it was to remove engine vibrations but don't know if that was total rubbish :s

well its off now, cup is now 3kilos lighter!

It's damping ballast that's added for noise/vibration/harshness reasons.

pointless to us yes. For an engineer with NVH limits to work within, it's a solution

Rough up an old post, easiest way this is removed? Guessing top mount off, head light out and slide towards front of car!? 3kg is free hp for sure

Theres a sneak at it here. As I said, light out, slide forward. Needing the bumper off to access the light bolts and then undoing the top mount. 65nm torque needed. Weight saved.

the bolt is under the engine mount, you have to go at the lump of iron from behind
