Battery noise

  Clio 172 Cup
?.........

just put my battery on charge for the clio and its making a strange noise like fluid moving round inside

very wierd

any way does any one know where the best place is for me to get a new one for a decent price around the wigan / warrington area ?

Does it sound like it's bubbling too like a kettle?

If it does thats normal through charging, you just don't hear it when it's in your car.

yeah it does, but that cant be normal though surely it only bubbles to vent off excessive gas from the charging voltage being too high for the impedance of the battery condition.

Nope, Modern batteries contain calcium metal in the lead parts to decrease the tendency to produce hydrogen gas during charging by electrolysis of the water in the electrolyte solution. If enough calcium metal is present, the battery gassing is so well controlled that the cells can be "sealed" and their demand for replacement water greatly decreased.

Or.. in laymans terms it does bubble during charging but newer batterys of today require less maintanence. ;) lol

have a look here for a most FAQ's of car batterys.

Out of curiosity, is it still charging ok?

not sure its fucked my car never starts it never reaches full charge neither it allways goes down to 1a charging current and stays there.

have switched it off now as i dont want it to catch fire.

when i came to it though it wasn't warm which is what i would have expected if there where a problem but i dont really know car batteries that well i know VRLA batteries pretty well though
