Battery Warning Light

Ok, when I start the car the battery warning light stays on, it then flickered off for a bit and came back on again.

It seemed to go off when i was at higher speeds?

Can someone tell me the list of things it could be?

just had the alternator belt and tensioner replaced

its a fault in the alternator somewhere, someone like BenR could give you a more educated response but get it checked out... if its just been replaced something isnt right there.

When my old one was going it would work at certain revs, thats normal.

maybe when it was replaced they didnt connect it up again properly

just a random guess

though it defo sounds like the alternator

rectifier packs/regulator/slip rings probably gone on the alternator.

hi mate,

when i had the car the main wire connected to the alternator came off, its right at the front and we managed to get a new washer connector to fit the wire and bolted it back to the alternator but at the time a soldering iron wasnt to hand so it was just sealed with insulating tape, its probably still Ok now but it would be the first thing to check especilay if things have been knocked about when the aux belt tensioer was done.

Also its a new battery so it is very unlikley to be that.
