i also thought that the tasks they set them wernt exatly real life type challenges. " when the horn sounds, the lights flash. when the indicator flash so the the headlights and the car wont start" the reason for this was because the judges had wired them all together lol. how many customers go into a garage saying that lol. can understand on seperate occasions but not a once. then there was the fit an imobiliser switch challenge. what the fcuk has that got to do with mechanics lol. any monkey can do that.
also nothing to do with engine internals at all (which to me is what mechanics is all about mainly). then at the end they had to "tune" up the escorts with some new plugs, an induction kit and a back box that they got from argos. again you dont need to be a fully trained motor sport engineer to carry that task out do you lol. they should have gave them a car and said "it wont start so fix it". not just unplug the coil pack lol. and im no mechanic but i answerd every one of the questions they asked and i would say i have quite a limited knowledge of engines. more than some but in no way an expert lol.

My mate who works for the AA got into the last 16, he didnt get through as his attitude wasnt good supposedly! Its wasnt the fact that he was doing a task and the cameraman was in his face the whole time and he needed some space to do the work!
