Bedding in front brakes

  Clio RS 200 mk3
I have just bought my third Clio Sport, a 2010 full fat model with cup pack. Following some juddering when braking from higher speeds, I have fitted Brembo HC discs with Brembo pads (front). I have read lots of posts on this forum and others about how to bed these in properly but it seems there is mixed opinion - everything from going easy for 500 miles to several sets of hard braking from 60mph to 10mph to avoid glazing the pads. Does anyone know what the manufacturers guidance is or any other official recommendation as to the best way to bed these in. I am not in any rush to get them bedded but keen to get the best from them.

Presume you mean Brembo OE pads, took me 3 heat cycles before they bedded in for me on the CS. A heat cycle consists of getting them nice and hot to the point where they are just about smoking then letting them fully cool. Once I had done this they where fine but a word of warning if planning fast road driving they are made of cheese and lasted all of 20 laps of Oulton before they where at the metal, I've also got them in my ST 155 with big brake upgrade and they're 'OK' if not a bit wooden but the car never sees any action so suffice.

Best OE pad for the CS are Ferodo Premier and funnily enough are the cheapest at under £20 delivered.

You really rate those pads @JB21

Getting the car serviced next week with discs and pads so will try these.

So you swapped to rc5+?

Cheers for the link
Yeah mate, and in all honesty they are nowhere near worth 6 times the price of the premiers in terms of performance, the CL5+ are better don't get me wrong but not 6 times better. Thing with OE pads they wont last a full day of track driving if you are a heavy on the brakes due to the softer compound. Not used the CL5+ at Aintree yet so will be interesting to see the difference compared to the premiers in terms of performance.

Aye, when Brenda from Preston gets new pads fitted to her Toyota Yaris, the garage won't say "now listen Brenda, you've got to do 20 30mph-10mph stops to get your brakes to work properly" 😂
Agree with this but in my experience if new discs and pads have not been through a few heat cycles as above they will fade very, very easily. My Brembo OE's where shocking when new without a few heat cycles and i mean shocking if trying to stop from higher speeds in a hurry thats on both the Clio and Mondy.

Oh aye they will if pushed, but after a few hundred miles there should be enough material transferred onto the disc.

This is how I always bed in new pads and discs , regardless of car or whatever make of pads and discs. Take it on the motorway for a good long drive around 70 - 80mph , lots of gentle left foot braking and I don't mean just pressing the pedal and releasing , I mean keeping your foot on the pedal for long periods of time . It's always worked for me .
I've been running Cotec pads on the front for 12 months now . For roads pads you don't need to spend a fortune. Good initial bite from cold and never fade when hot .

Thanks for all the comments guys - not planning on track days any time soon so I guess I'll just see how I get on letting them settle in naturally. If they do end up like cheese, I'll try some Ferodos next.
