Yup thats right i have been trying out my portable flashes, what do you think, the batteries where dying, i need some new ones, so couldnt use full power etc but i think they work quite well

i do have a proper indoor two head studio flash kit which i experimented with outside using a battery inverter but it was a c**k running all the wires so i went for a completely wireless route.
i used the stands from my studio lights, i then bought a clamp which connects to the stand which enables you adjust the direction of the flash head and also hold an umbrella, on top of the clamp is a wireless receiver then on top of that is a standard canon speedlite. i already had a canon 420ez so picked up a second (so to keep the power of the flashes the same) on ebay for about £35. good thing is that you can buy cheaper flashes as they dont have to have a built in slave as they are connect to wireless receivers. the wireless trigger which fires them just sits on the cameras hotshoe.

a second benefit is that the wireless trigger for these flash works with my indoor studio kit meaning i could fire both the mains power flashes and the portable ones at the same time, which is quite usefull if i want background lights etc for indoor work

as for the pic i used both flashes without the umbrellas but only like 1/16 power as the batteries were dying
