Been offered a Dead cheap Clio!

Hello, first time poster here. Have been offered a 1.2 Clio for £60, 02 plate, with a damaged Bottom End(Scrap), was looking at possibilites of turning it into a project car. First option was to pick up a cheap 172/182 engine and then turboing it, however after delving deeper i then considered picking up a Megane 225 engine for it. Just wondering if anyone here has ever had a similar thought or even attempted either? (Links to people who have done it would really be appreciated). Just wondering if anyone has any advice on which to use? Most likely no expense will be spared and will document it on the project car forum. Looked at the project cars forum and had a quick blast with the search function but could not find any threads i was looking for. Apologies if i have posted in the wrong bit!

Sticking the 1*2 engine in is fairly common. Lots of people have done this.

But can't say I've ever seen anyone put the Meggy lump into a Clio.

Meggy engine for me too, just because it would be more interesting to read about than a 1*2 engine.

Yeh on paper the megane engine also sounds alot easier, no turbo conversion and sounds easier for extra modifications later on. Thanks for the quick replies! Awaiting other recommendations

225 engine has been put into a Mk1 Clio before, but I've always heard that the gearbox fouls the engine bay on the Mk2?

Yeh some kid from my work thrashed it to hell and back, supposebly he got 80mph in 3rd. Not sure if thats possible

Depends on your budget mate, if your happy to pay for some re-engineering some decent boxes can be made to fit.
