Beginning to hate my 182

  Clio 200 & Golf GTD

I am having repeated ECU problems,

First I degreaser the engine - ECU light came on and required me to remove all the plugs, spark plugs then fixed after a few hours of messing about.

Second - changed the spark plugs last week, ECU light came on only fixed by removing and putting old ones back in. Plugs I used are 1mm gap and the correct part number.

Latest issues with ECU light on - I changed the lines for braided HEL ones pumped through all the old fluid topping up with new 5.1 (for cars with ABS fluid) the stuff that exceeds super dot 4 so the whole system now has dot 5.1 and now there is a solid ECU light. It is strange as this is the only time the power, drive, etc of the car is fine and normal but with the light on. I did spill a little fluid when poring it into the reservoir and some went on the plug that gies on the top of the cap but I have cleaned that down. Has anyone got any suggestions on what this could be?

The only things I can think of are I havent cleaned the plug enough, the dot 5.1 fluid is causing the issue and I need to run 4, the reservoir is too empty or full the Clio makes it impossible to tell max min amounts or there us something wrong with the sensor, ABS sensor or something like that.

Need to get it plugged into a machine really.

At a guess, if the car is running perfectly ok I'd say the post cat lambda sensor is on it's way out, the light coming on and off may be just down to the sensor slowly dying (it did this in my first Clio) and nothing to do with the other things you've been doing to the car.

Usually only an emissions light, so nothing to worry about if its running fine. Most have that light on if running a decat

emissions light that not ecu bud, like said above lambada sensor is the main issue that causes the light to come on,although mine does it reguarly and i have changed both sensors but have just found out that it has a weak spark from one of the plugs which is causing it to dump a tiny bit of unburnt fuel down the zost which is triggering my light to come on :S

so within the next week i shall be changing plugs(PFRE6-10) leads and coil pack, hopefuly this shall sort it out i shall let you know the outcome

Cheers guys so no huge panic, as I said I had issues with new spark plugs so put old ones back in. I will put this down to a faulty batch and get myself some NGK platinum laser plugs as I think it is also like you a problem that is maybe "spark" related as well if this doesn't work then I will replace the sensors. I have some magnecor leads on order so if this and new plugs doesn't work then on to plan b.

Rockers182 what coil pack are you getting, does anyone do an uprated one that you know of as I would like to replace that as well?
