There 1 or 2 aux belts there easy to chnage then there the cambelt which is the expensive one there all chnaged at the same time though.

what do the aux belts do the belt in question seems to be slighlty frayed which makes an annoying rattle noise when the engine is revved particuraly at high revs

The aux belt is the one you can see it takes the drive from the engine and turns the alternator and the power steering pump. On the E7J there is 2 aux belts and 2 rollers, one belt for the pump and the other for the alternator. If they are fraying, making a noise get them changed asap, have they ever been done? Get the cambelt changed aswel, you cannot see this one but its vital to the engine. If one of the aux belts snap and it knocks the cambelt it will bend the valves on your engine.
