Bending Metal!....

  Evo4, MITO, 172 TTV6
Anyone got any ideas on bending an inch thick bit of metal. Its got bits coming off of it so access is limited. (its on my seat) I need to make a curved bit of metal straight!

Thank You

I remember this guy who could bend metal pretty well. He looked a bit odd though. He tarveled around on a space ship with some guy called Fry and a mutant called Leila. I think he may have been called Bender, but I wasn't sure. I got the hell out of there cos he kept hassling me for alcohol.

:p

My serious answer is this:

If a piece of metal has been put in your car that is an inch in thickness, it would suggest it is there to take some severe form of loading/stress. If you bend it or heat treat it you're likely to weaken it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but one day it'll break and for the rest of your life.
