Well it will get rid off all imperfections in paint left from everyday shite... will also make Paint feel like glass very smooth and nice.

def worth doing imo, get megs Quick clay if u have never done it before tho will still get great results

It will remove anything washing can't. Will leave the paint totally smooth and mean applying polishes and waxes will be easy. removes embedded stuck on crap like tree sap and tar spots.

Ignore the crap on here at times of how shiny it makes you car look, as it does not make your car shiny!

Only many coats of wax will make your car shine like Rich's :)

as I've never clayed before either, just washed then polished, to the horror of the cleaning brigade on here, I'd like to know if I can get a cheap clay, such as Meg's from Halfords?

I really need my LCR to be 'Black Mirrored' for sunday's local pageant :(

wash, clay, wash again, polish (srp, megs etc etc etc or PC ;)) then protect/seal paint with egp, then wax

or get rich to do it ;)

whats egp

ive bought autoglym bodywork shampoo conditioner and autoglym super resin polish.. these any good?

they were both 100% extra free, so 1l for the price of 500ml, at motorworld. fiver the shampoo, tenner the polish.

auto glym extra gloss protection, its a paint sealent, one of the best as well.

bodywork cond is s**t, the SRP is best polish for minor blemishes IMO

you need to use the EGP after youve used SRP

cheers guys, do you recomment a wax after all that? i have been using tcut wax for silver cars just because dad uses it on his car... this stuff rated highly or it is pants lol

I've got a Megs Smooth Paint Clay kit which you can buy off me for £20 if you want. BNIB

I've used clay on mine for first time. Like Rich says it don't make your car shiny but after applying a few coats of SRP and it looks great. Makes wax application lot nicer cause paint is so smooth. Also good for sills and bottom of doors for removing imperfections that wax don't touch.

Only thing I didn't like is that I could see scratches after but apparently thats normal cause it's strips wax that covers them. After SRP it looks as good as it did if not better IMO.

Just remember plenty of lube and don't got pressing on hard even though it's tempting. Take your time!

I cleaned an 06 Toyota Corolla on Monday, only had time to do bodywork and wheels.

After rinsing, pre wash with foam lance, rinse, wash with wool mit and Megs Gold Class the bodywork was very rough and bumpy.

The car is parked under trees, so was covered in sap and bird s**t. After claying the paint was like glass. After another wash, rinse and dry, I was finished.

Get some wax on it too, the paint will be unprotected due to the claying.

thanks for all the help guys, im looking forward to claying now! gone buy the maguires claying kit - the one for first timers!

does anyone have any opinions on this tcut wax stuff ive been using. it comes in a bottle is thick but runny :s and says it blends with all shades of silver.

like i say ive just been using my dad's cleaning products (until ive read this forum now im gona spend a small fortune im sure it will be worth it) so the wax is his what do yous think of it. tenner a bottle

put it this way, t cut will remove the scratches you can incurr on cds and even headunit displays, its that harsh :S

Yeap - 83 is a cutting polish, not something I would want to use more than once a year on your car.

  106 GTi
Wax after sealant will add to the looks slightly - won't add much if anything to the level of protection on the paint left by the EGP.

  Mito Sportiva 135
The EGP will add a lot more to the protection than most/ all waxes. Wax is mainly for improving looks, although they do marginally improve protection. If you have EGPd then it is not necessary to wax if all you want is protection.

cheers guys! i'll see how the car looks after claying, super resin polish and extra gloss protection, whether i will buy a wax or not.

i like a clean car, how often do you recommend doing this cycle? i know claying shouldnt be done often but how often should i SRP and EGP?

anything i should do after a normal wash wif AG bodywork shampoo conditioner? i used it today btw and the car looks great!

EGP every 3 months or so, SRP every 6 month or so. Clay as necessary, if you use a Sonus Green clay you could in theory do it every week if you wanted, but in practice always a risk of micro swirls so twice a year should be fine, perhaps do it each time you intend using SRP.

  106 GTi
Claying depends on how the car is used and where it gets parked. Once a year maybe fine for example.

Get a few layers of EGP on and you should get 3 odd months protection. Then you have the choice to reapply some more straight ontop if you have not used wax, or reapply the Super Resin to restore the gloss.

I try to limit it to one polish per year if I can.
