Best Alpine HU

Anyone recommend what they think is the best Alpine HU under £200 that doesnt need a seperate power feed please??

  Polo + Micra

i think its just the units that have a 4x60w output that need the seperate power feed

Aah cool, so anthing below 60w output wont need it?!

Any recommendations or are they all pretty much the same?!

i think the ones without the cd slot it face are better but thats about all i know:oops:

I dont want one that needs a seperate power supply though - I want it to run off the existing stereo power and i want to stick with Alpine!

No I know, that wasnt aimed at you blaupunkt! I hadnt even looked at your link when I posted that!! ;)

I see a new 2004 one which is 50w output for £241, might be good?!

Thats the one! :) Doesnt have a seperate power requirement does it?!?

I take it would be okay to power my components and sub off a 4 channel amp?? And also my rear speakers?!

Im a bit dim when it comes to ICE! Lol!

lol i im not sure.. buy it plug it all in and turn it on.. if theres no black smoke/burning smell then your good to go! ;)

Ive already got an excellent Alpine HU but it needs the extra power feed and Im not sure Im happy about it because I think it may be affecting the battery and it also regularly cuts out!! :( I know they are excellent HUs but for peace of mind I wanted one without the additional power requirement!

April, if yours cuts out, its probably that crappy yellow fuse thing we had to fit.

Ive got about half a dozen nice sealed (well, splash proof!) blade type fuse holders that can easily replace that yellow one.

You know I dont do anything all day, bite your tongue and drop the car off one day. I can even arrange to be out when you leave it and collect it if you like!

It would be very silly to go back a few models when the 9815 is perfect.

do not get rid of your 9815:eek:

they are great!!!!!!! i doesnt really put that much strain on the batt.

i would check to make sure there is enough room around the fan on the back to keep the unit

Youre completely insane, Dont drop down a level just for something simple like that! As Rich says its probably something simple like the fuse holder.

I run my Alpine IVA-300RB media station with a Alpine V12 550 rms digi-amp for the sub along with a 2 ch amp for my front system all from the batt. and it´s fine.....So you must have a dodgy fuse holder/connection for sure

depends if u want to use the gadgets or internal amp?

if ur running subs, how many? are u amping every speaker? if u are there is no point flogging out the cash to get the top of the range HU cos the gadgets are useless - i only found out this after i boutgh a 15rb alpine unit!!

i dont use the MX bass engine anymore cos it distorts the sound - all i use is the sub woofer control and its up full!

One sub and components off a 4 channel amp.

Going to try and change the fuse holder and also book my car into Renault because keep having trouble starting the car and bunny hopping when it does start!! Lol!

Bad clutch control! ;)

FYI, the blade fuse holders were from Maplin - They were a few quid I think. Dont attempt to bullet them on or anything, the bullets arent rated to that sort of current.

I was always under the impression only 1 speaker cut out - in which case its unlikely to be the HU power supply at all. Of course if things have changed, that would explain why youre trying to do what youre doing.

Good luck with it, Ive got the job of installing a full Alpine satnav system in mine now. :)

More likely a dodgy speaker connection if thats the case.

Whos told you its the power cable? Do they actually have a clue what they are doing?

What are you lot on about!? Lol!

It is one speaker that cuts, because its busted. But the Head Unit also cuts out and has actually not been working at all for about a fortnight, which I have to admit, I am pretty sure its the fuse holder that is causing the problem and eventually will get round to fixing it!!

But am also having problems with the engine, which is not my clutch control thank you very much!!!!!!!!!

^^^ What she said! lol ;)

Was just the driver side front component that cut out - and that was cos the speaker was fooked not anything else! Second one of those MB Quartz components thats died! :( Cheap rubbish! :p lol

The headunit also cuts out which is no doubt due to the mailto:w@nk">w@nk fuse holder which will be replaced soon and should almost certainly rectify the problem! ;)

And the car needs to go back in to Renault (oh dear!) cos its not right when its first started! lol
