as long as you go for a reputable brand then you know you will be getting quality. but you should be able to get a decent set for your budget.

get coaxials at that money. Components will be unbelievably cheap quality at that price!!

agreed. lots of good co-axials with built in crossover and tweeter adjustment now. Only cheap components worth looking at are Maystar QX ahich are scarily good for such a cheap brand

kl cheers, but not what im after im afraid.

Ignore the coaxials mate, waste of time agreed they are better than they used to be and cheap components are usually sh*t.

But those phoenix gold ones used to be around £200, they have loads of good write ups in mags like total car audio etc.
They fit behind the standard grilles and sound great! I almost wish I had bought a set rather than spending mega bucks on my rainbow components!

^I 100% agree with the pheonix gold, I have used them in my last 3 cars and they sound amazing, unless you were spending big money for a high end system I seriously doubt you would notice any difference between the pheonix gold or a set of £150 components

With regards Coustic components;

Have a read HERE , interesting thread started by a current iasca judge.....

You shouldn't judge a product on price alone.....

It's 90% installation 10% kit.....

40% installation, 40% setup, 20% kit imo!

To be honest mate, no-one on here can tell you that ANY speaker is rubbish.

If you like the sound of it then thats what you like. Just becuase some random guys off the internet didnt like it doesnt mean you wont either. Doesnt matter weather its a £30 speaker or a £300 speaker, That the thing with audio, its all personal preference. If your ears like that sound then who cares what speaker it is or who makes it.

Try n get along to an audio shop (even halfrauds) and listen to the speakers on the walls.

Get a nice simple track and listen to it for a few seconds (10-15max) on each set of speakers, listen to one part of that track, eg the vocal part. and then you'l hear the diffrences.

i did this and was amazed at how different some speaker sound back to back.

Dont bother with the rears at all. Concentrate your efforts on the front.
