Best Exhaust Systems.....

Got my 172 Cup only recently, took it to Renault to have it looked at and they said that my cat is on its way out.... So its got me thinking, whats everyone's preferences on sports cat's, centre sections an backbox's for the Clio 172 Cup? Ive only really looked on K-tec Racing at sports cats atm, but if i can find a cheaper more free-flowing sports cat then obviously i would head towards that if it has decent reviews.... Im looking for a 2/2.5" backbox so its subtle, but also looking for a nice note. (Not stupidly loud though!) Any info you guys give would be much appreciated...

Go for a sports cat from KTEC then get a Yozzasport road system (quiet) its got a little 3 inch or 3.5 inch inward rolled tip on it sounds reallynice its what iv got but i havnt the sports cat

You sure your cat has actually gone and renault arn't making it up?

If you can be bothered with the hassle of changing exhaust come mot time (or finding a place that will overlook it) then go for a decat, frees up the revs a bit as well as being much cheaper than a sports cat lol.

No two cars are built the same so every exhaust is going to have different effects on different cars.

Oh right, well the cat ticks alot, while running and after the cars turned off... I know that the cat-back does that after a hard/long drive, but this is all the time. The downpipe/cat off my cup is a little brown/rusty if thats any help to you guys....

Was thinking of a decat, i could take it off, but looks a bit of job seeing as its near the tunnel where the manifold is instead of under the car like the mk1 clios! The other thing is, on the 172 Cup's, is the exhaust a 4-1 with the top half of the manifold being stainless, and the downpipe/cat being mild steel?

So you guys reckon that a Yozza Road seems the best, because i want a nice sporty note, but not stupidly loud! Is there a big difference between the sports cat and a decat? Sorry to keep asking all these questions, but i always thought that the sports-cats were
on par with decats?!?!

Yozzasport all day mate.

A decat is basically a straight bit of pipe thats put in to replace the cat to give a bit of extra of power at around £100 but your car may not pass an MOT with a decat on.

A sports cat does the same thing but costs around £200-300, but it will pass an MOT no problem.

Both decat and sports cat can be fitted or taken off in less than half an hour by most garages before MOT etc.

Don't know anything about the exhausts on offer, but all I will say is if you have it changed by a garage, get them to give you the old CAT back, then sell that to a scrap metal merchants, their worth a surprising amount, lol ! (There made of precious metals)

Go for the Yozzasport (quiet) road system its not that loud but has a really nice raspy kinda sound when booting it i love it and iv had lots of people telling me how nice my exhaust sounds 10/10 from me a defo buy but you got make sure you order the (quiet) system not the (loud) system.

just put a secondhand 'Mk2' KTEC system on mine and really like it - materials and construction seem fine, fit is good and easy, and i like the sound (sort of hollow bark - not at all tinny and not too deep [which would make it loud])

with these exhaust systems, i get the impression that people will post supporting the one they've got (which is all i'm doing i suppose) - they're probably all up to the job, although prices vary quite a bit it seems
