Best gear for a dyno run?

Taking the Cup to a dyno in a couple of hours and wanted to know what gear is best to use?

I think I read that 3rd is the one to go for???

Ive had dyno's done in 4th also. That is what the place did it in, I had no input I just trusted their knowledge!

I was thinking of doing it in first as I seem to get the best acceleration in that gear

Dude, if the place is worth their weight they will do everything for you and explain the figures etc.

when they did mine they just drove it through the first 3 gears slowly and then put it in 4th as its a long gear and revved the whole way through it. Thats how you get your peak etc.

4th is the one that gives the closest to 1:1 ratio(bar the diff which is 3.64:1 iirc.) so anywhere that does it in 3rd is cheating(in an RS anyway)

3rd and 4th gear on our DD is very close power and torque wise, get better logs in 4th

The supposed correct gear for any car on a DD is the one that makes peak power between 60 and 100mph but we often find 4th is better depending on the gear ratio.

I have noticed that on the cup 4th gear is not a 1:1 ratio, i find that my 5th gear is 1:1

they did mate yes, but apparently people say using 3rd is cheating - so i take it they mean you get more power in third???
