Depends on how much boost/power and if it's going to be used more on road or track tbh
Some people prefer to use JC5 089 from the ph1 172 as the gear ratios are more suited to it - still made of the same French chocolate as all the other boxes so not really the most suitable option for big power.
For big power and reliability you want 1 of the VW gearboxes -I have no idea what the codes are though- it's a fairly common conversion so there's a decent amount of people about that know what's what. Plus the front end of the MK1 Mégane is near as dammit the same as a MK2 Clio so the information on how to convert in a Clio will mostly still apply for you

hi mate thanks for your reply, yeah iv been doing some research on the vag gearboxes and I think it’s a 02m code box I need with the adaption plate and flywheel. Just need some more advice on this now
