Best Insurance Company?

  Mk5 Golf Gti
Hi all!

Coming towards the end of my current policy and I will be starting a new insurance policy with my newly acquired RB 182 :D

I am 19 with 1 years NCB, nearly been driving 2 years! I have been getting quotes of around the £900-1000 mark which is over half what I paid for my first year.. (over the moon with these prices)

These are quotes with both Elephant and Admiral, what do you guys think about these two insurers? :)

I am currently with 'First Central' luckily I haven't had to deal with them too much because they seem pretty useless... If you could shed some light on Elephant and Admiral I would be hugely grateful! Also if anyone has any suggestions for other companies that would be brilliant.

Thanks,

Joe

Best I could recommend is Brentacre , that's because of pricing , friendliness, allows mods how ever they might have a minimum age limit

I think Iv been with elephant / admiral for 5 out of my 7 policy's. Can't really fault them tbh, premiums are always a lot lower then else where online, however Iv never had to claim (touch wood).

Last year for the vee I went to sky insurance but they couldn't quote me as I'd just bought he car, so went to Adrian flux, and they were considerably cheaper than elephant. So maybe give them a ring, iirc you get some discount for being a member on here.

Well I am still fairly young in the grand scheme of things so the prices I have been getting are very reasonable I believe, Adrian flux may be worth a ring! Discount?! I like the sound of that ;)

Have a look in here, http://www.cliosport.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?152-Insurance loads of info on who is available. I have had insurance through Sky and Adrian Flux, went with Flux this year as it was significantly cheaper but the customer service was disappointing.

I have tried Flux before when I was looking for my current policy and they couldn't even quote me I believe it was because of my age, does anyone know how old you need to be to have a quote with Flux?

Hey, I'm still fairly young at 24! Ha seriously though, ring round, don't just use the online s**t. And make sure you pay for It in one go, elephant company has a thing for almost doubling the premium if you pay monthly ha

Well im really young then! ;)

Yeah I have shopped around a little bit, got until the 22nd to make a final decision! I was told not to use on-line comparison sites like you said, but im every single search I have done the on-line comparison sites have come back with significantly cheaper prices than anywhere else!

I would also never pay monthly for insurance, like you said they sometimes more than double! I have enough for my insurance anyway so I can pay that outright :p

Definitely worth giving specialist brokers a go if you are going to modify + they sometimes beat online quotes.

Insurance section is probably your best bet for this one.

I'm with Churchill until next month. Then see what sort of renewal they quote me. Had a decent quote from Adrian flux, cheapest so far.

The pretty much sheep spec of cs.net. Coilovers, Stealth system, OZ F1's, rear ARB, rollcage and so on
They never hesitated at all. Seats and harnesses to be in at some point. They don't increase premium if the modifications don't increase power output. Their prices work on 'power brackets'

Find that hard to believe.

I've been with brentacre the last 3 years. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

yeah mate im just making it up..? that's what i do when im bored, invent s**t stories.
as you can see, the person i asked the question to, has modifications.

They will put down air filter as a modification (cheap mod). The K-Tec panel filter is classed as a modification, Poly bushes in dogbone mount too (although think they just generalised 'poly bushes' on my policy). Don't think they have an age limit, they do specialise in modified cars - maybe why they wouldn't insure a standard one

I got insured yesterday on a 172. I called Greenlight, Adrian Flux, Sky Insurance & Admiral, Greenlight was the cheapest in the end. Like others have said the only problem is you need to be at least 21.

I mentioned an induction kit but he said that's not enough. I asked what the minimum was and he said you tell us what it is and we'lltell you if it's enough. I honestly think I got someone who was having a bad day because he was talking to me like I was a d**khead. My renewal is July 10th so I'llhave another go then. Well do the panel filter thingin the meantime cos mine is still a standard thing.
