It depends how far away you'll be watching the TV as to what size you should get, normally 37" is the largest you want to go for living room use, with 32" perfectly fine. They recommend you should sit 5/6 times the height of the TV away from it (so if the TV is 2ft tall, you should be about 10ft away... further than you think!), otherwise you'll be too close and the picture loses quality.

I'm getting the Toshiba 32WLT66 next week, which is regarded as one of the best in the price and size bracket.

Best thing you can do is buy "What Plasma & LCD TV" magazine and have a research session. Once you've picked a few out you like the look of, get onto www.pricerunner.co.uk and see how much you can get them from.

I've viewed football on plasma and LCD, and the LCD is worse in my opinion. It cant keep up with the action, like the frame rate is behind and the colours are trying so hard to catch up. Plasma is much better. The TV you watched it on must have been a lower spec one?

The Panasonic TH42PX60 is a great piece of kit if you want a decent plasma. Otherwise check out http://www.richersounds.com/productlist.php?cda=productlist&sgroup=PLASMA&sort=price for some great deals and information. They also have an LCD section if thats what you fancy still :)
Suppose you get what you pay for, as 42" is usually over the £1k mark

I've posted loads of topics about this. The opinions are so split its unreal. However, if you check out www.avforums.com and search for the model number you're after, there's bound to be a review and insight into it, as well as hundreds of LCD v Plasma threads. Most of them rate the plasmas for footy over the LCD, and I can understand why. LCD is brighter though, and looks sharper. I'm opting to buy a plasma in the near future when house is finished decorating wise. Got a Sony 32" widescreen at the moment. Need an upgrade and that Panasonic TH42PX60 or the TH42PHD8 are the ones I'm looking at. Good luck mate!

LCD's and Plasmas each have their own benefits and disadvantages, LCD refresh rates are improving all the time and newer models can cope with football and fast-moving images better. If you go plasma then make sure it is HD Ready, as lots of them aren't.

If you're about 4 metres away, then that works out as about 13ft, so I would personally say 37" would probably be ideal, 42" would be fine but maybe lose a bit of quality and 32" would be fine also, but could look a bit 'small'.

Check out avforums, buy some magazines and don't buy the first one that seems like a bargain because the chances are there's a reason for it!

Just got a 32" one from ebuyer that was £600 hyundai unit but sells for double that when its got marantz stamped on the front instead. Exactly the same unit though.

Great screen on it though nice picture only thing i hate are the speakers they sound awful but have a seperates 5.1 system anyway.
