Best place to get rear cage ??

So I'm planning on fitting a rear cage in next couple of months. I only want a rear cage though.

I want it to be solid enough for a safe harness bar and because I do a lot of track days.

What's the difference between bolt in and weld in? Assuming the welds are stronger, but permanent? In which case not ideal because I will only want it and use it for about a year or so before selling on.

K-tec prices are very high! You can get a full cage from OMP for the price of their rear ones.

Where's best to look from your experiences please?

Anyone selling second hand?

Cheers

Yeah I saw the thread on them. However I wasn't sure about relying on that to hold my harnesses in place in the unfortunate event of an accident. Not knowing the quality and strength etc..

If you don't want to spend loads and a decent quality the guy on eBay is spot on I've got one and had nothing but praise by people on trackdays when they've seen it

defs dont get one of those ones off ebay if youre planning on mounting harnesses to it!! the force of impact will tear the mounting bolts through the shell with ease!!

get a cage that bolts to the seatbelt ancorage points, or a weld in cage.

as a normal half cage im sure those ebay ones are fine, but the size and direction of the force thatll be applied if harnesses are mounted to it means it wouldnt be safe. the force applied will be pulling the bolt through the arch (as opposed to shearing the bolt) and the shell its not reinfoced enough in those areas to deal with that kind of stress. it might be ok if you welded it in, or used some very large spreader plates.

If you use a spreader plate roughly 4x2" youll be fine.
Any impact will try and pull a 4x2" inch bit of metal through the arch its not going to happen...

Any cage is s**t if you dont mount it right..
If you weld a cage with no spreader plates its going to be w**k...
