Best stuff to get rid of the marks let behind the tar sound deadening?

Removed all the tar sound deadening and it has left marks underneath them (glue i think)

whats the best thing to remove the marks

White spirit/Meths and a cloth for me.

i did this the other day, i found the best and cheapest way wasn't rubbing on with a rag but if you put it in an empty squirty bottle. squirt all the patches, by the time you have done, the first one will rub off really easy. Its really slow going with just a rag.

I used paintbrush cleaner, was just strong enough but not too strong.
