best suspension setup mk1

Car  6/468 17poo

ive got mk1 clio s 1.4 and have got 15 inch wheels with 195/45 tyres i would like to lower it but would like your views on the best set up dont really want any rubbing what do you think?

Cheapest like me:

Rear torsion bar 30-40mm drop, easy do the job yourself.

front on springs £40-£50, fairly easy, but if u dont know what your doing i.e. spring compressors, removing the shocks etc. find some1 who is.

other option, buying full suspension kit £150-£250

coilovers - Dam exspensive but are the mutz nutz.

wot ever option u still have to lower rear torsion bar, but its a easy job.

btw 30-40 drop on 15" 195/45 you will have plenty of space under the arches and shouldnt experience any rubbing, unless ur fully loaded and like to take speed bumps at high speed :p

cheers mate the torsion bar looks easy and its one of the latest mk1s so should be easier to unscrew i think id rather pay someone to do it cos ill be worried other wise.i reckon ill get a suspension kit i no its more money but the rides loads better i fink!theres not many kits which have a front shock distance with 54mm which is what my car is!

theres loads mate that do, as far as i know both Spax and Apex do a kit to fit that spacing, pretty sure thats what mine is.....

ive got GAZ coilovers on mine :)

i have got koni ajustable shocks and they seem to do the job pretty well.

looking around the £400 mark

Ive got a mk1 RT - with 195/45 15 wheels.

Mines lowered 40mm on the front and 45 - 50mm on the back. I have no problems with rubbing (i carry 4 people in the car everyday!)

It only scrapes over big speed bumps!

i did think about coil overs but i dont fink i wanna spend that much.i dont fink apex make a kit for it because on bb tunings website it says only for 52mm gap which is a bit annoying.my superleggars dont look like they are attached to the car at the moment!cos of the height at the rear!

clio carl, what make are your springs or shocks then if uve got 40mm up front i wanna make it level so i no the backs gotta come down bout 50 like urs.

yeah i want it to look just right but i want a suspension kit 40 upfront and bout 50mm rear so probly 2 clicks!i mite try the company called pi see what they offer.i no its a silly question but what width are ya wheels?

Just wondering mate - if you were more local i would of popped round and you could see how low it is!

But its a good 4hour drive for me (my aunty and uncle used to live in brightlingsea!)

where abouts are you from then carl?

cheers mate but 4hours is a bit too much ive spoken to bb tuning and they sed £300all in with apex suspension kit which is pretty good just need to no the front strut distance!

yeah brightlingsea have got a gd skatepark its a small world mate!
