Best time to do a full detail?

Hey all.

Got a quick question about detailing/paint correction. My car is black and a year old, and as expected, the paint is swirled and there are some very minor scuffs in some places. I want it sorted (I'm not doing it myself, never done it before and won't do it often enough to justify trying). Is there a better time of year to get it done i.e. before the winter before all the salt and slush greets us, or before it's really warm in the summer when tar is the main concern?

Lol, also does anybody in the Edinburgh area fancy doing it?

Cheers!!!

depends if you wanna work in the heat or in the cold. but some polishes work better/worse in different temperatures...or just do it in a garage and problem solved!

A lot easier to do in the shade if ou don't have a garage or some sort of cover as Pete says above :)

A few hours should give you enough time to give the whole car a good going over

I'd definitely do a winter protection cleanse using a durable sealant, or maybe wax, but your car is very likely to pick up some minor swirling over winter.

Personally, I'd recommend having it cleansed and protected now and maybe a light level of correction, then get a proper detail next March/April when the snow and stuff backs off a bit.

Main thing is PROTECTION. Don't forget your wheels too.

Nice one guys, cheers. I can do hand polishing/waxing etc myself, but I'm going nowhere near it with a machine polisher.

yea jesus, dont even think aout driving it over the winter! get it protected....

....seriously...catch a grip, some cars are more "protected" than new born babies on here!

It's about protecting an investment - your alloys will look lovely if you don't clean them all winter. Simple really.

I took my car in for a part ex price yesterday and got top book price and a bit more. Would yours?
