Best track/race coilovers???

  172 cup
Did a search but got loads of threads asking about road coilies. So, what are the best track/race coilies? Iv heard that Billie B14s are good.

if he is talking about the best possible, they will probably cost more than the car is worth.
ohlins, penske, reiger or such

Suppose! Was thinking of sensible suggestions, but i guess the world is your oyster if you have the money!

ask the guy that does time attack on here in a clio. he runs the AST's that ive got but curtis has revalved them and put much heavier springs on them and they are a full track/race setup.

that's what i am getting if they ever get around to sorting it as they don't do a 60mm bolt spacing on the racing coilovers

the race set is built to order, when i got mine they asked what the spacing needed to be, then drilled them to fit. have you spoken to them direct?

no andrew at yozzasport is sorting it but they are being your typical Germans and dragging there heales its been 3 months now .
how long did it take you to get your ones sorted ?

not as long as that, as far as i can remember they were pretty quick. But that was out of season. There will be a load of race teams buying now.

Id ring them direct mate. Can pm regarding it if you'd rather...

KWs are very good, had them on my Silvia but Motons are way better (and therefore more expensive) and they are build to specs so you can have them anyway you want them.

I think renault has some interesting coilies on the endurance speccd clios but i have never seen a set in person.

For club racing purposes tho the KW are very good and don't need ot be revalved every two races unlike "real" racing shocks which have very tight tolerances and tend to wear the seals very quickly.

good luck :D

Very helpful mate. I didnt know that 'proper' race shocks needed so much maintence. Club racing is all ill be doing and £1500 is my max really. Do you know anyone who has experience with KW?

Also, these 2-way adjustable shocks have settings for bump and rebound. How easy is setting them up, or should i get an expert to set them up and just leave the settings? :clown:

Also as they are coilovers, what is the advantage of having different height settings? Is lower-stiffer? :S

they are pretty easy to set up, the rebound is done from the top of the strut, with a plastic key they supply. the bump is adjusted from the bottom of the strut with an allen key- can be difficult with the wheels on, but is possible.
as far as reliability goes, i have used a set daily on the road for about a year, with a few trackdays thrown in too. (mine are valved and sprung slightly softer than a pure track set up) and they have been perfect!
you can also get all the after sales you want too, they will supply almost any combination of spring length and rate, possibly on an exchange basis but i can't remember.
all in all very good i think. but saying that, the ast's should also be very good, i just need to try a set!
