best way 2 get starter out of my 172

had a look at getting starter out and do i have 2 take driveshaft out or is there an easier way? thanks Dave

if you look at the workshop manual it's through the passenger wheel arch mate

No its not. Take drivers shaft out. Makes it easier to get heat shield on and off too

messy job to do it that way though. Get someone with small hands to do it for you.

You don't loose the box oil doing the drivers side shaft though. Or do you mean messy due to having to drop the wishbone out the hub etc to the get shaft out in the first place?

Ah getcha, although i'm always of the opinion that a little extra work to save something being far less awkward is work worth doing. Sod struggling with things.

not sure if it's worse on the 172, but on the 182 I recon you could do it from underneath.
