Better to buy clutch separate?

Need a new clutch in my car, so would it be better to buy a clutch off ebay and have it fitted or let the garage supply one?
Any ideas on the sort of prices I can expect for either?

Cheers

Get one from GSF car parts Or euro car parts. If a garage has to get it themselves they'll charge you more.

Ok cheers, I'll give that a go then. They dont have any in stock it would seem, any rough idea on what price to expect to pay for one? I've heard that its around £200 to have a clutch fitted and supplied, sound about right?

doubt that TBH. Garages have to make money, but they'll buy parts in cheaper than the public will get them, and sell at normal retail price. You're more likely to get charged extra labour time by a backstreet garage if you supply parts to them as they're not making a cut on the parts.

gsf will use either valeo or another well respected manufacturer who probably makes them for renault.

get the garage to fit and supply that way they make their cut on the clutch and wont screw you over lol. genuine clutches for the 1.2 16v used to be £60 + vat from memory, urs will be a similar price but probably get them cheaper from gsf as the garage will or a similar motor factors
