Bike Plastics

Right Guys,

I'm giving my two bikes a winter clean ready for another year of abuse and thought i'd give them a polish with some SRP, the results were nothing special and when i read the instructions it says painted surfaces only, whilst most bike panels (excluding tank) are plastic?

Any suggestions on what to use?

Heres a pic of some of this years abuse as you can see it's minging

I have used AG SRP by hand, as well as Menzerna and Meguiars bodyshop ranges of polishes by machine on a variety or bikes all have worked well. Main issue with most is the amount of stickers.

I tend to polish the best I can by hand with a mild paint cleanser such as S100 or Swissvax Cleaner fluid and then wax.

Will just have to experiment a little with a few products, the problem is with them being colour impreg plastic is that on closer inspection they seem to leave smear marks no matter how much you buff!

My other bikes a Buell and it suggest a harley plastic polish, which will be
A. Expensive
B. Re packaged Mer

Will head over on to detailing world and see if theres any suggestions on there.

Harley Dealers used to sell S100 products which where the same products a P21s just half the price. Was told they had stopped them.

You need a very fine finishing polish or even an abrasive free pre wax cleaner to get a perfect finish on some of the softer paint finishes. I have used the S100 Pre Wax cleaner on my mates Yellow Buell and the ex's old chaps Black Harley and it worked well on both.

There was a few threads on DW where people had done bikes - not a huge array on there from memory.
