With the last part of my trip home made with the radio off i was alarmed to hear a squeaking coming from one of my my front wheels. On closer inspection of the red hot wheel it was obvious that the off side front pads were binding with the disk. The pad had worn down to the metal of the caliper and had damaged the disk. I checked the other front brake to make sure the brake pad had not just naturally worn down and was relieved to see about 10mm of pad remaining.
I asumed that with this obvious fault to the brake system the repairs would be covered by the warranty. To my horror, ive been told today that the work will not be covered by the warranty. The Renault authorised dealer/Renault customer services dept have stated that the pads do jam due to brake dust and therefore this is not a design fault but a characteristic of the braking system. This is difficult to understand especially in view of the fact that it could have resulted in a seizure of the wheel. Im totally shocked by this statement. Has any one experienced this kind of fault before? I'd be very grateful for any feed back that anyone can offer?
Cheers, Matt. (disappointed renault owner!)
