Bitcoins (and other crypto currencies)

Is that something you can do easily enough?

I just want to buy and get it out of coinbase for speculation..
Depends what wallet you choose and that's where I'm a bit indecisive.

I've used the Bitcoin Core wallet for best part of a decade. It was decent enough years ago but to run it now requires a blockchain download of about 180GB. Once it's downloaded it then sits there thrashing the f**k out of your hard disk to keep the blockchain updated.

Something like Electrum doesn't download the whole blockchain, but I'm not familiar with the software and I want to understand what I'm doing before I move several grand across.

What about offline storage? I like the idea of putting them on something tangible so they’re offline and safe

Just had a look at coinbase.. christ it's the darkweb's wet dream. Need to send pictures of your drivers license etc which are no doubt being sold on. Wouldn't surprise me as the crypto currencies originated on the darkweb.

Was about to sign up to bitstamp but they want ID too. Not happy about that.

I’ve been looking at it, Santander are involved somewhere. It’s XRP that you buy iirc.
Yeh XRP is the trading name.
I'm in that horrible position where I want to buy just incase but at the same time, it will take years for it to pay off if it actually does. It's so much easier to dump coins into the market as they can make like 1400 a second compared to 7 a second for BTC.

Yeah, when me and a mate were talking about it, he was mentioning 2/3 year projections

Been doing a bit of cashing in and rebuying and made a little extra, currently into Eth and LTC so hoping they both creep up a bit after dropping this week.
With Bitcoin back on the rise I'm hoping they follow suit.

Nearly doubled my money with Omisego, wondering if now would be a good time to cash out then buy when it goes down again

Anyone dealt with Wex.nz before?

my coins are locked in there since BTC-E got taken down a few months back - I only have a small amount in there but would love to be able to access my funds again.

Anyone gone through the verification process? I'm a little wary of sending proof of address, copy of my passport and a selfie to a website (Russian based!) that's had problems in the past with the FBI ...!

Yes I am on Wex - advice to anyone - do not cash out via any other exchange than Coinbase, or use Localbitcoins and places like that.

f**k sending your ID to anyone else imo.

If you want to cash out coins that aren't on coinbase, convert it to coins that are first.

What other brokers are people using?
I want to buy some other coins that aren't on Coinbase before they shoot up but I'm reading terrible reviews on most brokers I click on.

Ideally, I want to pay using bitcoin from coinbase.

Eltoro has a minimum buy in of £377 since they've had so many registrations lol. A lot of the other sites have stopped new accounts.

I’ve finally doubled with omg after a long 3 months!
A lot of things planned for next year so it should go up a lot more hopefully, although I wouldn't mind if it goes down for a while as it gives me a chance to buy more! Did you buy at around the $7 mark too?

Wish I still had them 1200 LTC lol.

Wow.. could easily apply that logic to buying stocks that perform extremely well short term.

I have a LTC wallet somewhere with just over a coin on it from my brief stint of mining a few years back. God knows where it is if it even still exists... If it was 1200 I might put more effort into finding it lol.

Join me this weekend for a visit to my Chinese mining factory...!

Not sure if serious? xD that or you saw the post on facebook, LOL!

Yep just like anything, you can't predict it. Even now I'm amazed it got so big, at the time it felt right to sell, so I'm all good  now I just wonder how big it can all get!

I actually went through all my old crypto wallets from the mining days, a few $10's here and there, and then found $1k of Reddcoin which I've promptly sold for better investments!

Can someone explain... if a bitcoin is worth 17k dollars and say for example you had 10 coins; could you sell for 170k? And someone would pay that sum, for a made up computer coin!?
