Black behind wheel spokes

Got nasty black stuff firmly glued behind my spokes tried wheels cleaners, tar spot remover, claying and all sorts of brushes.

Cant be the only one with this on 172 wheels anyone know how to get rid of it?

I got some stuff at work that I am going to try on mine. CORATEX. Probably eat my wheels but I got 2 sets lol.




Only to be used on back though. We use it to clean chrome dies, and other metal bits.

Carplan Wonder Wheels...got mine from halfords and bought a alloy wheel cleaning brush too....the stuff is amazing!!

wonder wheels will kill your wheels mate but it will do the job! I'd use it as a very last resort.

Some form of Acid Based cleaner is going to be needed. As a one off you should be fine. Seal them up after so future cleans will need only car shampoo and water.

Sorry to hijack, Rich can you give us a link to a site that sells stuff to put on your alloys after you acid them, so next time you can just wipe them clean rather than spent 6 years scrubbing them

Use fairy power spray and a good alloy wheel brush like this one from Halfords :

Then as said , seal and wax to help prevent brake dust sticking in the future .

Autoglym Super Resin and then a couple of coats of the Autoglym Extra Gloss Sealant will do the trick.

It is very strong, apply it to a nicley polished face and see how dull it makes the finish. If you have any damage on a wheel it will get under the finish and cause it to flake off badly aswell.

Megs Wheel Brightener is said to be more effective.

Of the Shelf, Wonder Wheels or Autoglym Clean Wheels should do the trick.
