Black fluid leaking out, rear offside wheel. ideas?

As in the title theres some black fluid leaking out onto my wheel, its the rear offside. Does any-one know what this could be?

dang, wait that cant be right I had a new rear hub fitted not long ago or was that the other side...

could well be brake fluid

get it checked asap

If its brake fluid and its black, you have some very serious problems.

Apart from the fact the paint will have gone from your wheels.

Its grease from the hub, or a local dog with a serious kidney problem. :dead:

lol, if its a local dog p*ing on my car it'll have more than a kidney problem. Cheers Ill take it to a garage and get them to have a proper look at it I think, then probably have to replace the hub I expect?

Do you have drums or discs on the rear?

If drums, it could be the wheel-cylinder seals.

being a dynamique i am 99% certain it will have drums

i see this prob almost daily

more and likely it is fluid it will be black due to the build up of brake dust in the drum as the cylinder is at the top of the drum and the fluid will trickle down over the built up dust.

the fluid doesnt affect most wheels unless they have had a non standard paint job

sounds like a brake cylinder is leaking. probably want shoes as well as they'll be covered in brake fluid
