Black Sheep flocking - I've lost £130

Has anyone else lost money with Black Sheep Flocking, the company that used to flock interior parts before it folded earlier this year?

I'd dealt with them before and bought about £20 worth of bits which were great. Saw their work with dash tops on here so sent my dash top to them along with £130 in payment via paypal at the start of summer this year. They promised to get the work done in a couple of weeks.

After weeks of no communication I learned via Matthew Churchward (used to work for them, he's possibly on here too) that the company had gone bust. I asked him via Facebook messenger how I could arrange to get my money back and he basically told me it wasn't his problem anymore, before blocking me on Fb.

I've emailed the official account for Black Sheep and weeks have passed with no reply. I have no other form of contact. Anyone else had this issue?

Obviously I'm very angry, but really, as someone who's not particularly well off, I'd just like my money back. £130 is A LOT of money to me.

I thought it was him that owned it?
Thought they stopped trading before this summer? And I presume they stopped trading due to so many poor reviews and that about customer service and him "taking people's money".

Somehow I got lucky when I got stuff from them last winter.
Top dash, steering cowling, mirror covers, A pillars, boot pannel, interior light surround, door handles and door ends were to be collected flocked and returned. Only the top dash turned up without the vents.....he said he got an order mixed up and the other stuff would be sent back out. A week later and a few messages another parcels comes and it is everything apart from the door handles and vents that came out of my dash. Another few messages and he agrees to send them out as it was "his mistake" he said and gave me a tracking number....some reason didn't work. Then he told me someone had signed for it and the name he gave doesn't actually live in the village or exist. Got bored and bought new handles and vents. Then two months later they turn up. Literally no idea. I paid through PayPal and covered the fees for piece of mind as I always do, maybe that's why he eventually returned all my stuff.
I cannot fault the products, just their god awful service.

If you paid via PayPal id be trying to pursue something through that for a refund if thats possible.

Hopefully you can get somewhere with that and get your money back!

There work was bang on once upon a time shame as they ad the market.

Why do people who have the majority of a market always take the piss

I also paid for items I never got at the start of the year. I had to open a PayPal dispute to get my money back - good job I didn't pay by gift.

A quick check of companies house shows nothing for Black Sheep Flocking...

If he's a sole trader with a company name he remains liable for the debt unless he's gone bankrupt. Find who owned it and pursue it.

I got some door pulls flocked by them, all went okay. So I thought I'd get the matching door handles, they did arrive but one was not correct and didn't have the tab to hold the door pull mechanism.

Matt promised to send a replacement but never did, eventually got the full amount back through paypal ( they didn't even acknowledge or dispute it).

See if you can claim back through paypal but I'm afriad it might be too late, unfortunately you have to act relatively quickly.

From what I seen on the net he had issues from day one, issue with parts flocked, items missing, items not received etc week in week out, there's other companies who do flocking, I would never of given him any work as couldn't of been done with the hassle tbh, unless you persue it through small claims or payed it properly through PayPal (again most don't fit to save a couple pound) then say goodbye to your money I'm afraid

I emailed the PayPal account I paid to and got a response today from his ex-girlfriend apologising, saying he owes lots of people money and she's got a restraining order against him.

Explains his attitude to me when I politely messaged asking for a refund. He sounds like a low life.

I paid via gift. It was his request and I (unwisely) trusted him after receiving good parts previously. Costly lesson learned for me.

Interestingly I now have his phone numbers (both mobile and landline).

Does anyone know what rights I have in this case? Am I not legally entitled to anything since this transaction was via PayPal gift? Or does his written promise for a product count as a contract of some sort? Any help is much appreciated!

Depends if he's gone bankrupt or not.

And whether you have his phone number or not you'll more than likely have to go to court to recover any money. I know it's a lot to you but is £130 worth it?

I don't know the legalities around bankruptcy but I would imagine that would make a significant difference on the outcome.

As you said yourself, I think you've got to put this one down to a learned lesson.

.

You'll get in a line with all the other people he owes money to, and, at best, get a small percentage of it

I had some flocked A pillars from them when they were on eBay, they came & one looked great, the other one had a massive screw hole in it (supposedly for the alarm sensor / halfway up the pillar ) I got a replacement pair, but they were a completely different colour, they looked complete s**t so I never put them in the car.
I'm not surprised they're not in business anymore.

I ordered a steering wheel cowling direct from there website, approx 6 months ago. Obviously as above never received it. I can't believe that there website was still active, able to take ur money but not trading.

As someone has already pointed out, if PayPal and goods and services - request a refund. It's pretty fool proof. If you used gift, then more fool you I'm sorry to say.

Going by that video, just looks like he had quite a good eye for this sort of thing but needed someone with half a brain to run the business end.

I don't really see the massive appeal to flocked dashes, a-pillars etc but each to their own. Sounds like a shitty situation for all currently though.

Seems like he had his "mates" pants down too.
