Blistein B14 for Clio 1.2 16v

Hello,

new to the forum so i would like to say hi to everyone. I lurke around forum a lot but until now i was to poor to do any mods to my car exception was buying 16 inch canasta alloys that i got cheep. Problem is that with 16 alloys the car is way to high and don't handle very well so it is time to put it on its ass. After all the info i decided i will go with coilovers. I narroved it down to KW v1 which i know will fit 100%, the others are Blistein B14 but i am not sure they make them for my car, the only one i found was for clio mk2 sport 2.0 engine.

So my question is do they make b14 for 1.2 engine and what would happen if i use the kit for 2.0 engine( i think i know the answer to this one but would still like to know from experts).

Not sure on the bilsteins but it would be cheaper to get a nice set of 15s and then get new shocks and springs. Or even just new springs.

I have 2 sets of new tyres one 14 inch for winters and 16 inch for summer. So looking at the cost as whole it would cost more. Plus i test drive my firends car that has coilovers and it is night and day difference in how car drive it self, plus i want adjustable hight so i can change it during winters.

2.0 ones won't fit unless you're changing the hubs to 1*2 ones to suit. Also, your 1.2 engine won't weigh as much as the 2.0.

TBH, i wouldn't bother spending that kind of money on a 1.2. Save the money until you can buy something faster.

Sorry for the late replay had a lot going on this days, well kw v1 would set me back 800€ plus installation so i might take Vogtland junior kit wich cost 1/3 still offer 60mm drop, but i have no idea how it handle. Everyone advice is that i shouldn't buy anything under 700€ if i want decent drive not just the looks. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Well car will stay with me for at least 5 years, i know it is a lot of money for coilovers but whats the alternative? I want to lower the car and improve handling and that wont happen with just springs. I am open for ideas.

Coilovers are definitely worth it even on a 1.2 if you have good ones, well setup and at a sensible height.

however I would forget bilstein and kw and spend half as much on AP coilovers, I had them on my twingo GT and they were fantastic! Better than my previous set of FK Koni damper ones which cost a lot more!

You will lower the ride height and improve handling with springs lol!

I read about AP coilovers but i am worried about the rust, do you have any problems with that? The kw is probably to much money so right now i am looking at the ap and vogtland junior kit that might work as well but i didn't find any reviews for use on clio 😧 .

the ap's I had were stainless and didn't rust mot sure if they have been revised? Either that or just cover them in copper greeze

Good so AP are on the list now, Eibach Sportlines are just springs with out shocks?

I just can't weigh up why you think springs are inadequate. They will lower the car thus increasing handling. What's not to love?

I have clio campus so thats mk2 ph4 the stock arch gap is huge the 30mm lowering just won't cut it.

Well i take some look around and with 16 inch alloys the gap is not so large. So can you use eibach sportlines on stock shocks? AP coilovers are galvanized so they will start to rust , our weather is a b**ch for cars.

My 1.2 16v was on Eibach Sportlines on standard shocks and was fine and had a good drop on it. Ran well on 16" wheels too :up:

apparently i can fit cup dumpers on 1.2 plus H&R springs are good combo from what i have read around, that or eibach sportlines should give me pretty decent driving experience with nice lowering. Any opinions on this?

I've had APs on my mk3 for over 18 months. I adjusted the ride height about a month ago for summer and they are still in great condition. Zero oxidation and the threads are still perfect. The collars spun with ease. They go nice and low and improve the handling no end! I only paid £415 for mine brand new.

Yea i look around the AP are 530€ plus to get them on car is 200€ so i am on 730€. So for now i narrow it down on springs:

1. Eibach sportlines no introduction needed.
2. H&R 30/30 seems to lower the gap a bit more then sportlines and are bit stiffer wich is fine with me. Some pic:

Can' choose about this two, pretty worried that sportlines will blow my shocks, H&R use the guy near me for 7 years now on stock shockas with out problems. Price is about the same.

Cooksport springs are a decent drop. They go on all sport dampers. I'm presuming if you put sport dampers on your car you would fit these no issues and get similar fitment.

Again what I meant about the need for coilovers, you will get a good ride height with some decent springs

Aye i was asking because my engine is lighter so i should get less drop than you. Plus i will use stock shocks with springs wich is why i will go H&R 30/30 or sportlines. If i change to decent shocks i am over 600€ for that i get AP coilovers. Was planing to use 172 cup shocks but front wont fit i think? the rear are straight swap and i could get them cheep. It is a b**ch to make a choice between the springs. On one side everyone here only use sportlines but H&R is stiffer and lower a bit more when settle in. The best option would be 172 cup shocks with cooksport springs but not sure what i would need to replace to make the front fit my 1.2.

I wouldn't use Eibachs on standard dampers on a non RS if you want handling, they are horribly miss matched ive tried them on a DCi100 and 1.6 16v and they were terrible.

later stuck koni dampers on it and it was much better!

to use RS dampers you need the hubs which means you need the brakes which means u will want the master cylinder may as well go full wide track at the same time

So many conflicting opinions, to get RS dampers is to much money with that i am on coilovers. Bloody hell now i really have no idea what to get, knowing me i will end with kw v1 . I need more info on sportlines and H&R springs from the guys that they are running them on stock shocks.

Well i found sportlines new for 112€ so i had to grab them . I did have a real hard on for apex full sport kit with 60mm lowering but couldnt find it under 400€ .
