Bloody Crap Service from Renault Dealer

Has

  RS 182 - Black Gold

I recently got my Clio 1.2 Dynamique 16v, roughly 4 weeks ago now.

This was supposed to have been serviced by the dealer just b4 i picked it up as the car was 1 year old.

I thaught lovely, drove off and returned the car 1 week later as it wasnt feeling right. They had the car for a day and said they put it on the computer an everything. They showed me the service paper an said the air filter, plugs etc... had been changed just before i picked it up.

(They also had the car again to fix the sunroof for noise!! about a week later)

Today, being at hoem from uni, i finally got my dad (a mechanic) to have a peek at it, we had a look at the air filter and its never been changed, was/is totaly clogged up and dirty, had a look at the plugs and there also way off, none of these are only 4 weeks old!!!

Gonna go bak tomoro and have a nice big moan!!

This is WILSONS OF EPSOM, IN SURREY !!!

has anyone else had problems with them?

plus they wanted to charge me for the sunroof for the noise!!! i told em no way as loadsa ppl have complained about the noise too!

ill let u know wots happening, see if they can worm there way out of not having doen a service!

Bye 4 now

Someone else complaining about a renault dealer.

LOL,

Ur probably right!

Gonna be takign my car in first thing. See how they get outta it!

Also found they disconnected piping in the engine bay when they last had the car!

Bloody useless.

  172 no more :(

The 172 is great, but the service from Renault has been appalling. After my experience with them I will never buy another Renault again.

Initially my car was with them for 3 months, in the end I contacted trading standards and sent them a breach of contract letter. When I eventually went to pick up my car every body panel had been scratched including some dents on the rear, this included scratches on a new bumper that they had fitted. I booked it back in to get everything sorted and gave then enough time to get my car back for this weekend as I was going away. But yet again I was let down as they still have my car.

Thanks to Renault my short break was made as uncomfortable as possible due to a lack of air-conditioning in their courtesy car.

How many miles has it done? Air filter isnt due for renewal until 18,000 miles, and plugs last around 72,000 apparently. theyll just be following the service schedule probably.

If any of you live in Birmingham I can point you in the direction of a garage that specialises in Renaults, Citroens and Volvos. The bloke gives an amazing service. My girl friend has a Clio, she had a bump in it (not her fault suprisingly) and she took it to this place. He totally repaired everything and even washed it!!

You should find yourself a good independent garage. They are far more thorough than dealers as they dont have all these pigging targets to meet all the time, they spend as much time on your car as the job takes! I bet dealers are allowed so much time for different jobs and when that time is up I bet they just STOP and what was still to be done IS STILL TO BE DONE!!

Local garages value your custom so much more and like to build up a good relationship with their customers and like to get things right as they want you to go back to them. You also get to speak to the mechanic who actually does the work on your car, unlike at the dealer because for them to speak to you, it would eat into their target time.

My dealer is OK but I much prefer my local garage any day, they are so much more honest and trustworthy than dealers.

Too right GR

The ONLY reason i have taken it bak to my dealer is because of the warranty! as soon as its out the window my car WILL be serviced by my dad :)

He has his own garage, and does wonders, his reputation has built up over the years and customer can trust him.

I just wish there were more ppl that give this kindda service :D

PS if anyone wants there cars looked at i knwo a good mobiel mechanic ;)

SE area only tho

Dropped car in at 7:30am --------> 4:10pm an still waiting for a damn call

  Clio 1.6 16V

On the contrary, my Reno dealer has been really great. Ive had a good few problems with my 2003 1.6 16V (8 warranty sessions in the garage so far). They are trying their very best to sort my problems out. I always get a smile from the staff and get the car washed each time too! Well done Glenvargill Dunfermline. Oh and I get a 15% Cliosport discount on parts and service to boot!! So there are good Reno dealerships out there.

I agree with GirlRacer. My local independent Renault dealer is fantastic. Its a family business, been going for years, now being run by the son and daughter and they couldnt be more helpful.

When I took my old Clio in for some work under warranty she phoned me and asked if I wanted the cam belt changed while they had the engine apart as it would have to be done in another 18k anyway. Saved me a lotta money in labour.

Anyone who gives me a brand new Cup as a courtesy car cant be bad!

It is time you found yourself a proper garage like Diva and me! You need a garage that does a good job and takes great care of your car! You are better walking round it with a mechanic next time you take it in, before you actually leave it and then another walk round before taking it home, so that any damage can be checked out.

Kerbed the wheel too? That is a shocking way to treat customers cars!

Has

  RS 182 - Black Gold

YUP they kerbed it slightly on the front left on the ramp

like i said before THE ONLY REASON it has gone bak to the same place is because they were to do the plugs an filter.

As soon as this and the sunroof has been completed it is never goign bak there again!!! (because the car was purschased from there)

Normally i dotn have to worry about these things as i said dads a mechanic and sorts it all for me.

Ah well, its now booked in again next week sometime, to complete work on sunroof, as i drove to tesco this evening the sunroof came off

well part of it!!!!!

someones in for a good bollocking 2moro

YOU JOLLY WELL TELL THEM in a firm but polite way, and let them know that you arent having any more of their shoddy workmanship, otherwise there will be hell to play.

Your dad must think they are cowboys, I know our local guys would think that.

Has

  RS 182 - Black Gold

dont worry GR i will be tellin them

Yer we think they are righht assholes!

one of my dads customer baught a car from em, had squeeky brakes, rather then them takign them off an cleaning them, there idea was to go down the road at 70mph and slam the brakes on to clear said squeek

hell this wasnt an idea they actually did it!

  Titanium ph1 turbo

not as bad as the experience I had with my old R5 turbo, I had just rebuilt the engine and put a new clutch in it, and it needed 2 jobs done to finish it off with parts id ordered through them so I decided to just let them fit the parts and be done with it as Id spent 4 days in my garage. One was to change the starter motor for a new one I supplied and the other one was to fit a new roll pin in the driveshaft.

To cut a long story short I returned to find they had fitted the starter motor incorrectly (wrong dowel location), and it had ground down my flywheel to the point it didnt engage with the starter motor !! and whilst doing the job they had also put it on the ramps and taken a chunk out the bottom of the bumper because it was lowered.

After being offered a reduced labour bill etc (£95 to fit a rollpin was their original quote @ 1.5 hours) WTF ???? they said they would do it for £30 instead saving me £60... anyway blah blah blah i wrote a letter to their head office and it got passed down to the branch manager who said the starter motor was my own fault because it wasnt a genuine renault item bought from them (why did they agree to fit it then?), and that the bumper got damaged because my car was lowered so it was my own fault... after trading standards got involved etc, the only option left was a court case with them. I sold the 5 not long after all this, cut my losses and bought a clio cup from a different dealership. I think it all depends on the dealership you goto and the people running it, rather than renault as a company overall.

The trouble is that these incompetent guys are the link between ourselves and Renault and as you say, it isnt Renault as a company who are at fault, it is these numpties who are representing Renault who give Renault a bad name!

Get those Super Soakers filled with old black oil and when you drive past these cr*ppy garages you could give all of their forecourts a good leaking.
