Bloody shocks :(

RIght i tried and tried and tried again last night to fit my new shocks and springs onto my RT, THe thing is i had the bonnet up and the alan key was into the top bolt on the shock and we had a spanner around the nut but as much as we tried they wouldnt come loose, 2 fairly strong lads giving it a go with extra leverage and didnt shift at all!!

Anything im doing wrong or has any one else had these probs?

Cheers

Edd

Spray some of that stuff that loosens nut and bolts on- leavefor five mins and then give it a go - usually does the trick!

Socket doesnt work as you need to counter-turn the allen key, either get some oxy-accelatelene (sp) or shock it (eg bang the spanner with a big mallet !! thats if the scaffold pole doesnt work

i can but if i do that i cant get the allen key in because the socket covers it :(

I dont have to loosen below or anything first do i?

fricken reno!!!

There really isnt much you can do except to keep trying - the short scaffold pole idea genuinly sounds like a good one. or the hammer idea - although, make sure your tools are stong enough to take the counter strain otherwise you may bend em!

These are best undone with a curved ring spanner and allen bit in a 3/8 drive socket. Be careful not to round the allen head off.

Failing that - impact wrenchs with a 21mm socket usually remove the nylock nuts without spinning the strut...

A little heat will help too, only a little mind. DO NOT reuse the nylock nut....

Air get is off all the time.

The allen key tends to strip quite easily so count yourself lucky that it hasnt already.

Dog leg spanner and allen bit in a short breaker bar works fine though.

LOL,

yea first allan key stripped then stripped a spanner.

Thats how hard we were trying!!!!

Getting annoyed with reno considering selling so ive put them on hold for now

if you dont want the shocks then put some mole grips round the shock shaft and get a mate to hold that whilst you undo the nut at the top.
