bloody sunroof - help its driving me mad!

can anyone tell me how the hell you stop the rattling sunroof? (manual - the electric one doesnt do it..wish id paid 4 the extra) Its been in 3 times now and all they do is grease it up. They say that they have modified the handle but i get a creaking noise when its down. Should i ring up renault uk? ive only had it 6 months!

there is a fix for this, done through renault.

But it only works for a few months, best thing is to remove the handle and soak the assembly in wd 40 for a while.

Yep all you need to do is get a match stick, put it down the drivers side runner, at the front. Then close the sunroof tight. This will stop the rattling and also stop any leaking.

Done it on my mate RSI. Worked a treat

I get the rattling as well, only started happening after a got my car lowered tho, now it doesnt stop, its so annoying.

iv had all the mods on the sunroof and its stopped. now and then it rattles and i tighten up the torx screws where the handle is. something i found out tonight is that it hasnt been wet since my last mod, i now have a really wierd sloshing water sound from the sunroof when wet!

f**k me its worse! mine aint a rattle which i could live with its a annoyin squeak/squeal that annoys the hell out of me!

I sent mine into Reno today to have it fixed on my Mk2, comes back just as bloody noisey and unfixed as after despite a supposed fix according to the job sheet!

Im gonna take the screwdrivers to mine!

My last car was a 1.2 Dynamique. Brilliant car all round, apart from the rattling sunroof!

Had it fixed three times, and gave up in the end. Just had to turn the stereo up. But it drives you NUTS.

Unfortunately it appears the electric ones do it too... eventually... as my friend is finding out now.

Am glad the Cup doesnt have a sunroof!

wish i could afford a 172. id have to take a lone out to pay for the insurance! its such a pain cos you HAVE TO have a sunroof on any clio except for 172/v6 even if its got aircon. Im not convinced that there is a cure to this problem cos the roof is so flimsey and moves about alot. Might give the match stick a try. Well, if the electric one does it too then there is no hope. I also heard that some clios have a fault on the plastic casing about the doors that houses electrical wires that causes creeking noises. Renault should have recalled them... i mean this is a design fault - no questions asked and its dangerous cos you are concentrating on the sh*tty knocking/rattling/creaking noises from the bloody sunroof!

why do they use pop up sunroofs. i hate them. crap in summer, rattle in winter. the only good thing is you can leave the car on the drive in the summer with it open to cool down instead of a window what thieves can push down

My pissing sunroof has only started rattling and ive had the car 2 years! problem is, dont want to muck around with it too much otherwise it might start leaking!
