Blue Headlamps?

  Clio MK3 1.6 Dynamique
Hi, erm I have a strange question, I got my new car last week(some of you may remember as I posted on here about it), anyway.. I was told beforehand, because I asked deliberately that I wouldnt have Xenon Headlamps(blue bulbs right?), anyway I am convinced I have got em, here's why... I continuously see shades of blue off street signs, other cars somtimes(white cars show it more easily), and basically things thats shiney that reflects the light.

Does anyone know how to tell for definate weither they are Xenon headlamps.. I think thats what they're called anyway, is there a technique to use.. ? or.. I dont have a clue :D

your probably thinking.. let sum1 drive off in it, and when they turn you will see it, but I dont want anyone driving my new car :p lol

cheers

not always true, many cars have that oval light without being the blue xenon shade! eg mk3 corsa's, the facelift versions, and many mercs, mainly E-classes.... the new style, all have the oval light, but no xenon, best way to tell, is drive next to a car on the motorwat or such like, and compare your lights (at night ) against the road!or turn them on and get out of the car to see....

Think double optic means it has seperate lights for side lights, dipped beam and main beam. Instead of them being the same bulb just different filament.

I dont want to sound stupid here, but if it isnt Xenon headlamps.. then how come I see a blue shade from reflections? could this be something else ? Its not my imagination because i see it all the time, so its not a one off

Im starting to get confused myself =)

look for the headlight adjustment switch...

if you dont have one you prob have them

I do have one

Again this might sound silly but, other than looking at them from a distance... is there any way to tell if they are Xenon headlamps? of course I have had them on and looked at em, but they are too bright, allmost blinded myself :) and I remember reading few months ago about Xenon bulbs and that you cant see a shade of blue unless your a good distance away?

Argh.. the mystery goes on.. im going to phone the garage :)

  car? need a license 1st!
you won't get a proper answer from them either, renault dealers are the most un-knowledgeable konts on earth!!

As a side issue, I had one of those Clios as a courtesty car recently. I didn't realise until the last day of having it they have extra bulbs at the side of the cluster that come on as you turn, thus lighting up around the corner slightly.

Its already been said, you don't have them.

Why didn't you want them anyway?

Maybe the new clio has those daft headlights like on Puntos whereby you keep getting blinded by them and seeing all different colours. They aren't HID though.

IIRC there are just projectors on the lenses which gives them a sort of blue shade like you say Bert.

or one of those citreons where the lights swivel wen you turn the corners....

if you think you have them, try changing the bulb, you'll know all about it then...

Thats what i've read, you get that effect whether you've got xenons or normal halogen bulbs. Its because of the lense.

Well... IIRC.. I didnt actually say I DIDNT want them.. did I? but I do think they look pretty cool and lets say.. I wouldnt be anoyed if I did have Xenon headlamps nor would I be disapointed, but I was just curious as if you read above, I said... "I can see a shade of blue". and im just following it up to see if it is.. or isnt!

Yeah "corner lights" they call em I think, wasnt to keen on them at first, but the more I see em, the more i think they are pretty snazzy :D

Xenons have almost a magnifying lense in the cluster.

Also as you switch the lights on they will self level, so you'll see the beam actually move up. I'm sure normal headlights don't do that. :D

It seems as though my lights arent Xenon, just simply have a blue shade round the outer part of the light, the best i can describe it is that round the edge of the light.. its a blue shade. my conclusion... dont know :) dont supose it REALLY matters, but I was just trying to find out the truth :)

next time Im parked up in front of a shiney thing, i will take a picture... and you will all see the blue shade round the rim of the light(as best as I can describe it)
