Blue LED Conversion?

Hi all,

just got a new Kenwood head unit with a rather appealing blue glow to it.

I was wondering if anyone has done a blue LED conversion for the speedo etc, if so is it easy to do or would I need to pay someone to do it?

I haven't done the speedo itself but have swapped the orange LED's for blue on the window switches, lock light and rear window de-mister above the head unit.

That was relatively easy to do I've heard that some guys on here can do the speedo conversion for a price though!

cheers, what did you do order some LEDs off eBay and then just rip the dash apart until you found what you were looking for?!

Ive done the full dash, its not hard but you have to be very patient and be good with a soldering iron

I managed it as a novice with only a little soldering experience. It took me 3 days though because I didnt have much patience/concentration.

Once you get all the dash and speedo off etc it looks like this and you just have to take the LEDS off that you dont want and replace with blue ones.

I think there is a guide on here of how to do it. I will have a look.

That looks great mate! I also really want to do this! But I know erven though its easy I will mess it up! Anyone know of anyone that can do this for me?

cheers, what did you do order some LEDs off eBay and then just rip the dash apart until you found what you were looking for?!

Pull the grab handles off of the door and unplug the window switches; pop the covers off and replace the orange LED with a shiny blue one (you can get 50 off of eBay for £3ish)

Rinse and repeat for the 2 above the head unit too

To replace the LED's i used wire cutters to just snip the tops off; then trimmed the legs of the new ones and soldered them on. Just make sure you get the polarity right first!!

Cheers for the advice. Had a fiddle with the doors and other dash lights and should be able to for them. Will have a go when I'm back from sea in a few months time!
