Bmc cda 182. Any good?

They make a nice noise.
But id spend the money on brake pads.

Ive got one on my 172, combined with my new exhaust its breathing a LOT better! :)

Pull out the airbox pipe near the headlight, thats free. The noise is great.

Yeah then sucks hot air. tried that. loses throttle response. awful!
Im not bothered about power but i dont want to lose anything if that makes sense.

Really? hot air from where?
Well i was the first person to fit a CDA to a 182. Every rr i used i was down on power compared to a std box with an itg. (7-10bhp depending on RR)

With a remap it might be fine.

Laura's Maxogen on her old Ph1 172 made one hell of an induction noise and allegedly they make more power than standard (although I've not seen anything to back this up)

I've got a CDA, not a bad word about it really, souns good, works well with my other mods, only problem is the filter gets dirty quickly and filled with flies

lets face it, no1 buys an induction kit to increase power by 50 bhp and torque by 150NMs

It's mainly for the noise. I suppose it would make a slight difference when set up properly, along with other breather mods!

I have one as my car came with a poxy k&n cone. Absolutely flew when i fitted the bmc. Then when i got round to fitting some correctly sized material wire reinforced ducting routed down to the nrside wheelarch, removing the acoustic valve, it went even better.

Also fitted a samco silicone elbow which is abit wider and smoother than the standard pipe. If you run a bmc without ducting its supposed to be less effective due to the pressure of the air iirc.

If you want more bang for ya buck though, get matched inlet manifolds! Cost little more than a bmc and the best power mod you can get for the price imo. I now have both:D

my Williams came with a K&N and putting just the stock airbox made a notable difference. Open IK's dont well on Mk1's, not sure about Mk2's but I'd assume it's a similar scenario as they just suck in hot air from the engine bay

Yeah mate, agree with that, made a bit of a roar, but not much good if sat still for any amount of time at the lights etc.

Do you have any poor running issues with the bodies when stood for any length of time fred??Just out of interest...:)
