Bodykit advice

Hi all, new here!

I got a dark blue clio 1998 2 reg mk2

just got a bodykit off ebay and been quoted 400 quid for spraying..do you reckon i could do it myslef if i got some primer etc??

Spray gun is essential, as is experience imo. I think its worth paying someone to do it for a good finish. I remember respraying my bonnet on my 1st car with halfords car spray cans, looks utterly s**t mate lol would never even think of doing it again.

i could get a spray gun for 50 quid but i don't really know much about painting them! suppose i could shop around and try and get better than 400 quid!

you get what you pay for with bodyshops, go by recommendation, not buy who does it cheapest!

you need an aircompressor and a spray gun and a dust free room and the knowledge.

i used to work in a bodyshop and have seen a few things people have sprayed and failed on . 1 lad spent 60 quid just on silver rattle cans and was a complete waste of money . he then had to bring his car in pay us to take all the paint of and do all the prep work properly cost him 500 quid to do. as with the price 400 isnt that bad and you always get what you pay for .

if uv never sprayed anything before then definately dont try and do it, it will look shocking. If uv got money to buy the kit then u mayaswel save the money and get it sprayed properly.

Don't do it yourslef, unless, you have the time to do it properly. Say 7 to 10 days straight! Coz preperation will be key. Also your spraying technique! You'll need a dust free zone, garage perhaps? Cleaned and using some sheets to protect the walls.

If you dont know nothing about spraying or painting i wouldnt bother mate cos the result will be poor. just pay someone to do it well first time round.

The art in getting a good finish is patience, Spraying itself proved you have decent equipment isnt all that difficult.

what colour car? flat colours can be done by yourself if you know what you are doing however you will need a spray gun, a compressor lots of parctice, you'll also need a machine polisher to finish it off properly (this is probably the most usefull thing as if you can use a machine polisher properly you can hide aderage paint jobs.)
