Bolt-in roll cage

Picked up my 2005 182 a couple of weeks ago and just love it.

Plan to do a few slalom events and track days in it so looking at bolt-in roll cages.

Are there any out there that can be bolted into existing mounting points or do I have to weld mounting plates onto the car?

I like the look of the safety devices 6 point for example, how do you fit this?

See if you can find a second hand MSV cage made by 'Caged' They bolt in on existing holes and will fit over trim panles etc.

Safety devices can be bolted in, iv got the rear loop of the SD cage bolted in. Been looking at doing the same at the front but its difficult so probably just going to get the front plates welded in.

D4ve, how do you fit the SD rear cage? Do you just drill holes in the floor or does it use existing holes?

Why does it require plates at the front and can this be avoided?

A proper useful cage is welded in etc otherwise I see little point in them its for show only.

If these bolt ins were any good they would be allowed in race series.

bolt ins are allowed in a lot of motorsport, and in honesty some of the welding that i've seen that's passed scrutineering, I'd rather rely on some 12.9 bolts and correct spreader plates. If a bolt in cage doesn't make a difference to chassis stiffness, and a massive amount of occupant safety then it's been done wrong

I agree, plenty of FIA-approved cages are bolt-in.

What I want to know is, are there any bolt-in cages that don't need mounting plates welded on?

ones i've seen and done you can either weld the plates in or put them on the reverse of the panel so they're like a big washer. unfortunately there's normally at least one point that needs a foot welding in, The front ones especially as you need to attach to the sill rather than the floor so you have to add a piece here

clio cup racers are bolt in...

There not quite the same league as the ones were on about which bolt in just to hold themselves in place rarhter than hold the shell together.
