bonett catch recall

Took my car to the stealer's today to get the bonett catch recall done and they performed one of these health check's and a 25 point check with out me ever asking and they came back to me and told me what they had done, i thought here we go this is where they tell me my car need's 99.9% of the part's replaced and it's going to cost £10000 for all the work lol but it came back 100% spot on i was well pleased

tbh, i do the 25 point checks on every car that i work on and i couldnt really care if a car is 100% spot on or 100% s**t, i do a genuine inspection and dont bullshit any customer, dont really get why people say that renault make up bullshit on all 25 point checks.

I took my car to my local renault stealer's based in sunderland for a service a while back and was told i'd need a new clutch fitted at a cost of £800+ the clutch was fine i took it to several different renault garage's and they told me the clutch was fine, so i whent back and asked the origional stelaer's to put this on paper that my car needed a clutch and they did i took this to the other reanault garages and they made some phone call's and the guy who told me i needed the clutch fitted no longer work's at renault so hence the bad attitude toward renault i'm sure there's plenty more stories lol

Yeah totally, i understand this must have been a one off but it makes me think twice when told i need work done on my car. I only take it to renault for the stamp in my service book all other work is carried out at my friend's garage for beer money lmao

I've got to say I quite enjoy having the 25 point check, I get things pointed out that I may have otherwised missed so it's all good.

i had that re-call letter a couple weeks ago. still not had chance to get the car in but the 25 point check was also mentioned in the letter. just wondering when renault do the check if they find something that needs attention will they carry out the repair (without telling me first) and then bill me for it? dont fancy bein stung.

Last time they gave me a list of stuff, priced it up, gave me a discount for the car being over 5 years old then asked if I wanted anything done.

No they cant do work on your car that will come at cost without checking with you first! You just have to hope u dont get a phone call from them during the day!

If you do get a call, you can say no.......

If they quible, tell them you want to get some independant quotes done first, and if you cant do it yourself find a garage which will charge you about half the price.

You are not obliged to get the work done there.

Renault Sunwin at Derby didn't bother doing the 25 point check on either of my 2 clios when I took them in for the recall. I'm pretty sure they just did the job in the car park.

Got mine done last week. they did the check on it and everything was 100%, I was expecting the worst as well but all was good .

Get it done, my bonnet seems to sit better now!

Same with mine yesterday. I thought they'd do one and after nearly an hour of sitting around I guessed they had. But the guy turned up with my keys, said "Replaced it mate" and disappeared lol.

The guy did try to tell me that only two in the world had ever popped open though, I didn't bother asking if he'd seen Watchdog. :clown:

You could register on "My Renault" on renault.co.uk which is meant to show you any recalls...or do what I did and just ring your local stealers and ask. They couldn't find if mine had, had it done or not so they just booked me in. Drive in with a rusty old bonnet catch and drive out with a shiny new one.

They also put a blue sticker under neath my bonnet to say it's been checked.


mine was really rusted :S and it was just replaced.

what part is failing ? the metal clip that keeps on the bonnet on?

As in the part that comes unlocked when you pull the lever behind the dash?
