Bonnet catch pull has siezed - what to replace

Hi all,

The bonnet catch pull has siezed on my clio. I know this is very dangerous and have seen pictures when this has failed and bent the roof of the car.

What exatly needs to be replaced? Just the piece on the underside of the bonnet?

And where is best to get this? Renault have just quoted £47 + vat !!!!

Just work it back and forth with mole grips and grease is up

I think it was the full thing mate. I'm probably wrong though

Just take it off and clean it up and grease it.

Mine seized on a track day once when i came to shut the bonnet it wouldn't latch on. Greased it up there and then and it's been fine since.

I meant the other part that has the actual pull handle on it so you can open and pull the bonnet up.

How can the handle bit be linked to the bonnet flying up?

It's the catch (underside of the bonnet) that failed I thought

Ok, cheers for that, i wasnt too sure. Well maybe i need both parts then.

When my catch seized the handle inside the car felt as if the cable was snapped cos it was so loose!

That's exactly what happened on mine as well.
