Book for digital SLR beginners...

My dad wants a book for xmas, which basically will help him get the best of his D40, and how to take better pictures as he's a beginner and needs some guidance. Any ideas for this kind of book and where to get one? Had a quick scout in waterstones but didn't find a great deal.

Theres a book WH Smiths sell, well kind of magazine really but its dedicated to the Nikon D40/X.

Looked pretty good and seemed to cover everything. £7.50 I think.

Just got this for my dad for xmas, he only has a bridge camera but the book is awsome. it doesnt get technical or anything just tells you have to get good shots. What settings to use when doing landscapes etc..

Really neat book for £7
