Booked in for 12,000 mile service tomorrow...

  German Barge
Just booked my 12,000 on the V6 for tomorrow, booked it in at dover (kent)...

will let you know how it goes, ashford, and canterbury were booked up for two weeks, and dover were the next closest...

anything i should suggest to them when dropping it off? im assuming it is mainly fluids, and oil change...?

Is that Driveline? I bought my 182 from Driveline Canterbury (I live nr Sandwich). Driveline Canterbury are absolutely clueless.

Apart from a rude receptionist, I found they didn't seem to know much about RS cars. I asked about a clonking noise and some beeps from the alarm.

They took 4 days and (apparently) stripped down the car for the bonking noise which they then said was normal (ABS pump). Hardly confidence inspiring.

The alarm beeps they basically had no clue about. I found on this forum that it is a known fault.

Hope Dover turn out better. Check they use the right oil. Let us know how they do.

chris, dunno - check the manual. There were some posts on here about dealers using cheap sh*t oil, that why I said it.

So, us three are the east kent renaultsport gang!

would check my manual... but i haven't got one lol... didn't come with the car, all i have is the service book... that was it. :(

It's supposed to be semi synthetic Elf Excellium 5W-40 or something like that..., though I've been topping up with Castrol Formula RS 15W-50 and it runs nice on that.

I put fully synthetic 0W-40 mobil 1 in a while back, and it didn't last very long, so I think it needs the thicker stuff.

£230 FOR THE SERVICE IN THE END...

all filters changed, oil change, new wipers, new batteries for my remote, full interior and exterior clean... very happy, car came back as i left it... overall impressed...

didn't think that was overly expensive either for a 12,000 service...?

Hmmmm that's exactly the same service as Renault Winchester did on mine only last week, except they didn't change the batteries in the key or the wipers. They did also clean inside & out, and charged me £177, so I guess for the extra batteries & wipers £230 is about right.

137699, when the car was serviced at 6,000 miles it was £170ish... so i spose it does depend on the dealer...

so long as it stays around the £200 thats fine with me. Going to be ordering a full set of tyres, plus new brakes and pads in the next few thousand miles... then going to be getting shot on the mild stainless exhaust, as it makes the car look tatty...

was thinking to spend "mega bucks" on the car, but i think ill leave it standard - and keep it mint.

£230 ????????? youve been stung there mate ( only oil filter changed at 12000 serv )

oil filter £6.05 + vat
sump washer 88p + vat
wipers £12.81 + vat each
plip key batteries £2.56 + vat each
fully synthetic oil - 5 lts £25.00

That gives you a grand total of £80.17 inc vat............so £230 - £80.17 leaves you with £149.83 ??? your tellin me they charged you that for 1hrs labour which is what a 12k service is - even if they fitted a new air filter and fuel filter thats to much ........ youve had your pants pulled down ther matey

  Evo VI Tommi Makinen
Hmm Renault Prices for you though.

I did a 36000 mile service on my MK1 172 for about £50 and Renault Nottingham wanted £300

Also needed a Cambelt change which Nottingham quoted me £510. Got it done as a back hander from another Renault dealer for £350.
Didnt think that was too bad

as stated above j3ned, if i wanted a cheap service i would go and have one... but for this type of car i need the service history for in 2 years time, im sure it will be worth while to the next buyer...

obviously brakes, and other major parts will be purchased elsewhere, but its a service stamp, and a receipt from renault which i pay for i suppose.

Yeh wouldnt want to touch something like a vee without FRSH.
Ive always had mine serviced by renault, much easier to sell the car at the end of it.

The irony is, FRSH will be appealing to the average buyer, yet some Renault dealers know very little about the RenaultSport models. 'FRSH' on a RenaultSport model actually means "oh sh*t" :clown:

^^ totally agree, but its always a buyers market when it come to motors and RS models are no difference. Main dealer service history is always seem as a massive+

  German Barge
exactly, roy munson, you honestly think i believe renault are the most talented mechanics out there?!?!

its is all about the R is FRSH... as adtmits says to the majority it is what they want, to people from here, it will mean s**t... but thats how it is.
