Boost Controller

  R35 GTR
I just finished fitting my apexi avcr boost controller. The wastegate actuator used to control at around 12.5psi, now I want to use the boost controller. Am I right in thinking I will need to get a different actuator with a softer spring to allow better boost control?

Please no one say get a bleed valve as that has caused me loads of trouble in the past...

no not nessceslery

what boost are you looking to run?

I want to keep maximum of 12.5 psi, but also have the option of running a lower boost for short journeys. But the issue I have is I can only get good control with 20% duty cycle which seems to be the lowest setting.

I am a complete noob.lol.

so u have set the gain to 20% sounds about rite for a small turbo, on the avcr you got the 3 setting basically what you wana do is go out and do some testing

set 1 with 5% gain first then 2 as 15 then 3 as 25

go out and see what boost you are achieving at setting 1 then go on to two (remeber this mean going in to highest gear through out each test)

the gain / duty is the setting on how hard you are making the turbo work from the stock boost it was set at, two much and you will put too much stain on the turbo shaft and can pertenchaly blow it and cause damage to the turbo.

If you are running stock internals then i would suggest not to go above .8 of a bar or your gunna melt.

all you got to do is go out first on a low setting then get to the correct psi you are looking for then set number three setting for this so when u want to run your lower boost you flick it to setting 1/2

Ideally you need a spring for about 1/2 the pressure you require if you want to control it with any EBC
