press button and it wont open.

Hold it and doesnt open.

Hold button and repeatedly unlock the car using the fob and eventually opens.

Anyone come across this, out of warranty now FFS.

Its just started doing it. Was intermittent to begin with but I couldnt even get in it this morning. Had to go through the rear seats to get something.

Mines not that bad, I've got the technique of holding down the button and pressing the fob at the same time.

Mines not taking winter well tbh. Got this boot problem, can hear a ticking whilst idling and it's a bit jumpy in first gear sometimes, to name a few. French sh*t.

Dont think any renaults like the cold mate. i run mine on vpower to stop it kangarooing when its cold. The gearbox doesnt like the cold either.

First post says out of warranty :s

It astounds me that people will run modern cars with all the electronics and what not without any sort of warranty at all when the manufacturers 3 year runs out, for all it costs.

It's the boot button itself that is faulty. Water gets in them and corrodes the switch. I noticed mine doing this last week when the boot was going mental and the button kept clicking. Then whenever i started the car the boot would pop open. Finally it stopped working and the boot wouldn't release. You need to carefully prise the button out of the boot (use a knife), disconnect the wiring plug and then take the switch apart (really easy). Once you've done that you'll see it's corroded. Either replace, or clean it off using some wet and dry paper and some cleaning fluid. Re-assemble and it'll all work fine again.

FFS i went outside to try this and it wont open atall now. And now I think my gearbox is going.

Anything I can try?

Alan hit the nail on the head. Mind you I was banking on selling it well before now so thats why I didnt bother with the warranty.

Re: Boot Button on MK3 is f**ked boot wont open, anyone had this problem

Yeah my 2009 1.2 has the same issue, I now instinctively hit the button about 5 times.

Might give what jon_r said a try.

Done mine.

Cant see any corrosion. Looks to me like the balck connector wasnt clicking into place to the white plastic box thing that holds the copper switch thing.

Had to remove the inner boot panels (theres 3, the two smaller ones come off first) and then remove the switch.

Had to climb in the back and use a screwdriver to slide that little white connector and open it that way.
