Boot Lock Solenoid...... (FAO BenP/benworley or others!)

Due to some c**k driving into the back of my car, im gonna take the opportunity to smooth my tailgate as it is being fixed!!

What i therefore need is to get a solenoid release for my boot lock.
Having read some previous posts i see that BenP and benworley have both done this to their RTs?

If either of you (or anyone else who knows how to do this!) are reading this please sort me out with a step by step guide cos i havent got a clue how to do it!!

Any help/information where to get the solenoid etc will be very greatly appreciated!!

I was thinking of using the cables from the rear wiper (which will be removed) to power the solenoid - is this a feasible plan?

  350z & 16v Maxi

Im doing mine at the begining of September, and work ing a car shop that suppliers solenoids so can get you one if you want, not sure on the price yet tho. You can use can use the wiper cables to do it. All it is a somal piece of wire that gets wound up when you activate it thus pulling the catch open.

Thanks Colin, i would be very interested to see what solenoid you could supply me with and how much!

I had a look at maplin earlier and there were a couple of types, both 12v, one was about a tenner and the other a little more - not sure if these will do or not though!

Yes theyre the ones to use. Took me a little while one afternoon to wire it up. piece o cake.

Ive got some pics (although not brilliant) i can email, or Ill try an post them here if u want.

But get a solenoid from maplins with two wires, a blue n green. then wire it with a switch to the battery. simple as pie.
