boot not shutting properly

  MK3 GTI golf 16v
the other day my mate reversed into me when i was stopped, it was low speed and nothing broke or cracked or anything. i just went to use my boot and the button like stuck as a pushed it in, had to put some force into it to click in.

i have to really slam it to get it to click shut now and it takes a few attempts to click in.
the little metal buckle the the boot lid click onto is slightly loose now.

would that being loose be causing the issue ? if so how can i tighten it? or has anyone got any other ideas what is causing it

cheers

the little metal latch on the bumper ? it may well be :s i just hadn't noticed until looking a minute ago

either way, boots not shutting properly :/ i cant see why, nothing is broken or bent

does the boot lock when you press the key fob??

also you said the black button was stiff to push, I would take off rear cover 1torx screw and then pull it and have a look at the motor and the metal link from the solenoid check its all ok.

if all else fails then i would take to a bodyshop to make sure its all in line and your mate hasn't smashed anything out of allignment even at slow speed something would have to take the impact

it was fine before he reversed into me, all it hit was the plastic bump strip on the rear bumper.

when i get some time ill take the boot cover off and have a nosey

  Looking for 182
Get a torx screwdriver thingy down that little gap where the catch it. Loosen it, adjust, and then tighten. Mine is loose at the moment and it closes but the lid rattles, you've just reminded me I need to adjust it again. Spanks
